DIY - Lingerie Bag

When it comes to organizing things for traveling, I am a big freak,
Travelling gets my adrenaline rush surging and that sets in motion a chain reaction of thoughts, starting from planning and organizing every little thing. I like to organize and pack things in style, I love to spend my hours sorting things meticulously before locking up the door!

This time around I made/upscaled a drawstring cloth bag into a Travel lingerie bag.

Supplies:

An old cotton drawstring bag
Stamp
Fabric paint
Brush
Sponge

Dribble the color on the palette, place a layer of sponge sheet on top of it, firmly press your stamp on the sheet, and then simply stamp the pattern on the cotton bag one by one, using sponge sheet ensures that your stamp is colored evenly. Let it dry completely and then you can pack your valuables in it and carry your things in Style ;)

I totally love the concept of DIY, it breaks the monotony of life and lets you dig deeper into your creativity, and is an excellent stress buster.

DIY-Creative Nook/Revamping an old space

l am a restless soul, or to put it precisely "I am the change" ;)

Little bored with my living space, Today I tried to revamp it a bit...without having to spend a penny, I like the idea of "Homemade charm" using the things that are inside the house only and creating something new every time...I think that money can buy you stuff but it also kills the creativity!!

From my multitude collection of books, I used some of the interesting pages and created a creative nook...this time , I chose to incorporate different aspects...from an Aayat in Arabic to  a Sanskrit sholak...from a theory related to Ethics to a simple statement that says"Use what you have" that defines my work :) ...

From quiet some time i was thinking of buying a map and today while searching for pages , i found an interesting world atlas and i thought why not make one at home ...i had wooden dowels...so i just pasted the pages together and "taa daa" here is my map!!

So now all i have to buy is a lamp for highlighting the space, and that can be delayed for a while!! I am happy with this new change and i am loving it :)

This is what I call frugal living...not just living but cherishing the creativity that blooms inside!!

Homemade Lavender Lip Balm

There is nothing more fulfilling then making your own products at home, the world of Homemade stuff is endless and so adventurous…Nowadays I am busy making everything at home, from soaps, medicinal balms, lip balms, cakes, to baked biscotti , and I am enjoying every bit of it, it feels like there is so much to do, so much to create, so much to make…and I am going all crazy!!

Recently I made this vanilla lip balm, that is natural and safe…lip balms in market have many unnecessary and harmful chemicals, like petrolatum, mineral oil, alcohol, dyes, and god knows what type of fragrances…whereas I made it with just 3 things:

1)      Natural Beeswax
2)      Cold pressed Coconut Oil
3)      Lavender Essential oil

You make fine pieces of the natural beeswax, melt it in a double boiler, add Coconut oil and mix well and then finally 5-6 drops of Lavender essential oil…shake well and pour this mixture in a container…let it set and you are good to go…The whole process usually takes 15-20 minutes…That’s it… simple and 100% safe and effective, without any chemicals…. and the fact that you have made it, will make it even more special... Isn’t it amazing!!

Next on my list is a Homemade shaving cream J

DIY POM-POM NECKLINE T-SHIRT

After making homemade soaps and balms I have been thinking a lot lately about healthy & natural living, good thing is that I have been reading all the food labels before purchasing stuff and I can't tell you how many products I had to put down today morning while I had been out to buy groceries , every third thing had “Artificial flavours, artificial colour” and I never paid any attention to them before …it’s a real cause of worry and this latest row over exceedingly high levels of lead in the so famous Maggi noodles has left everyone agape!! I mean you don’t know really what’s going on in our body system??

Anyways apart from that I have been thinking about how I can add some homemade charm to Vihaan’s clothing  and yesterday I came up with this idea of sewing the Pom-Pom’s on the T-shirt's neckline and I turned out to be a pretty good idea…he looks so sweet!!

I have some time before he grows up and says “Hey mom, boys don't wear this/that” ;)

How we revamped an old arm chair to a chic new one.

This chair was going to a waste in the attic..., it caught my eye and I took the task of revamping it....white paint and new fabric was all I used and with little sweat of my brow and sewing efforts of my Mother In Law, here it is..., put to good use....

Vihaan likes it a lot besides his grandpa and grandma!!

DIY-Patchy hair clips

We are having a patch frenzy lately, Picture me at home with clothes, threads, and patches everywhere and I lost in the pile of patches :)

in my last post about Bum patches I had stitched some patches on pants and that's when I thought about what should I do with the smaller pieces/patches afterall they are quite cute as well and I cannot afford to ignore them, then I thought about making some hair clips for Vihaan. So here we are:

I used:
 couple of small sized patches.
Steel hair clips/plastic clips
pieces of scrap cloth (Old bra straps)
thread

Steps:

Stitch the under surface of the patch with a piece of cloth (I used a piece of strap from my old bra), neatly glue it to the steel clip/plastic hair clip, wait for 5-20 minutes while the adhesion is perfect and Viola!! you are done!!

Some Bum Charm ;)

Around here, we are learning new things everyday,

Let's quickly get to the story behind this bum charm....there is a very sweet comely boy in our society "Arokya", I spotted him in his cool pants while he was hopping and running in his own world in the park couple of days back, he had very cute animal patches on his bum and his mother "Mala" told me that they have a complete set of these pants...I Absolutely fell in love with his pants.

I wanted something like that for Vihaan as well, so I ripped some patches from Vihaan's old clothes that no longer fit him and stitched them on the pants...since we do not have a sewing machine at home, we had to do it with hands :( but we enjoyed.

Vihaan was happy posing for pictures...it was kinda funny, I was after his bum with my lens...

Thanks to Mala and Arokya for the inspiration :)

A picture a day series.

As we are travelling ,I wanted a personalized travel bag for Vihaan  but couldn't buy one as I actually splurged at lot on his clothing :o   well then I thought of customizing one at home, we had a spare strolley, I stamp printed it and made some customized name tags as well...

Vihaan was happy being surrounded by the craft supplies and playing with color pencils.
